I'm Marisa Governale.
My name is Marisa Governale. I am a graduate of DePaul University with a BA in Communications and Media and a minor in Public Relations and Advertising.
Experience
I have gained experience in many different areas of communications, including Public Relations, Advertising, Digital Media Production, Professional Writing, and Event Planning. Through classes at DePaul University and Harper College I have curated the necessary skills to navigate the communications field.
Skills
Through experience in Retail Management I have sharpened my interpersonal and presentational communication skills. I have also gained valuable skills in leadership and teamwork. I am proficient in Microsoft Office Suites and Adobe Creative Suites. I have Google Ad Certifications focused in Shopping Ads, Ads Display, and Ads Search.
Impactful Classes
Adobe Creative Cloud Workshops DEPAUL UNIVERSITY
In 2021 I was able to take two different Adobe Creative Cloud Workshops with Professor Jakub Rudnik, working with InDesign and Audition. I particularly enjoyed these courses because they allowed me to get hands-on experience and work creatively with each software. From these courses I feel more comfortable with both programs and have a working knowledge of what they can do.
Social Media: Creating Content DEPAUL UNIVERSITY
In 2022 I was able to take the class Social Media: Creating Content with professor Jes Klass. This course gave me the opportunity to make mock social media advertisements for any company, and a space to workshop those ads and receive feedback from my peers and my professor. I gained a more intimate knowledge of the creative process of creating social media advertisements and learned what will engage and promote those ads to a target audience.
Data Analytics DEPAUL UNIVERSITY
In 2022 I was able to take a class exploring the use of Microsoft Excel for Data Analytics with professor Stephanie Besser. From this class I was able to expand my knowledge in skills that may not relate directly to my major coursework. Currently I am pursuing a certificate in Data Analytics through IBM to continue sharpening those skills.
Humanistic Psychology HARPER COLLEGE
In 2019 I was able to take an accelerated Humanistic Psychology course with professor Dubois McCarty. This course gave me an opportunity to explore the psychology of my own motivations, and taught me valuable skills in goal setting, self care, productivity, and time management. At the end of this course I was able to set goals for myself five years in the future and create an action plan to meet those goals, which is something that has helped me get a promotion in my job and graduate from DePaul University.
Video Production HARPER COLLEGE
In 2019 I took a course in Video Production with professor Jeremy Schulz. I loved this class because it gave me hands-on experience working with professional cameras and equipment, creating promotional and creative videos from beginning to end.
